W. H. Leary Company introduces the new GT51 Pump and 4:1 Glue Regulation Unit (GRU), an advanced cold glue feed solution designed to improve application consistency, simplify maintenance and help folding carton manufacturers reduce unplanned downtime.
Combining a powerful 5:1 pump with a 4:1 GRU, the GT51 maintains consistent glue pressure across a wide range of straight-line, four-corner and six-corner carton applications. The system supports adhesive viscosities from 300 to 2,000 cps and fluid pressures from 55 to 325 psi, giving converters greater flexibility across changing production requirements.
The GT51 uses closed loop communication between the pump, GRU and Leary controller to maintain the programmed pressure throughout production. This consistent pressure helps prevent glue line variation, puddling and pattern movement, supporting more accurate adhesive application at different machine speeds.
A key advancement is the addition of Predictive Maintenance Notifications through Leary’s Monet 3.3 operating system. Pump cycles and operating time are tracked to alert operators when routine service is approaching. Notifications include:
- Clean filter
- Check glycerin level
- Replace seals
For iQ Smart Service subscribers, these notifications can also be communicated through dashboard reporting, alerts and status updates.
The GT51 is engineered to make routine service faster and more convenient. Filter maintenance can be completed directly on the production line in less than five minutes. Seal replacement and pump rebuilding can be performed machine side in less than 30 minutes, eliminating the need to remove and send the pump out for repair.
The new cold glue feed system also features run away protection. If the pump begins cycling excessively because of an empty adhesive container or broken glue hose, the GT51 automatically shuts down to help protect the equipment and alert the operator. When connected to Monet 3.3 or later, the feature can also stop the machine and display an error notification on the Monet screen.
“Our goal with the GT51 was to give customers more than consistent glue delivery,” said a W. H. Leary’s Andrew Sims. “We designed the system to provide greater visibility into maintenance, faster machine side service and added protection against conditions that can interrupt production.”
Customers currently operating a compatible Leary medium pressure pump may also be able to upgrade their existing equipment to the new GT51 configuration, providing access to its latest performance and maintenance advantages.
