Tinley Park, IL – May 9, 2025 – W. H. Leary proudly participated in the TICCIT program—Trees into Cartons, Cartons into Trees—this Earth Day, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and community engagement through environmental education.
TICCIT, an initiative of the Paperboard Packaging Council, is a nationwide educational outreach program aimed at school-aged children. It teaches the renewable nature of paper and paperboard packaging by showing that trees are a sustainable crop, much like fruits and vegetables. The program highlights the many uses of paper products and emphasizes the importance of recycling in everyday life.
As part of its employee-led Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, Leary organized and delivered the TICCIT presentation to students at a local school in New Lenox, Illinois. In preparation for the event, Leary employees assembled and prepared interactive learning kits that included tree saplings and sustainable paperboard cartons.
On April 22, 2025, Earth Day, Leary team member Kim Lucchetti delivered an engaging and age-appropriate presentation about sustainability, recycling, and the lifecycle of paper-based products. Students participated in hands-on activities and were each given a tree sapling to plant. Each sapling was placed inside a Leary-produced paperboard carton, which is fully recyclable and biodegradable—reinforcing the lesson that sustainable packaging can return to the Earth.
“Sustainability has always been at the heart of Leary’s mission,” said Kim Lucchetti. “Programs like TICCIT not only support the next generation of environmental stewards but also align with our broader goal to improve plant efficiency while protecting the planet.”
Leary is proud to contribute to meaningful educational experiences that create lasting environmental impact and is committed to continuing its support of sustainability-driven initiatives in local communities.
