Our quality inspection components help improve and
stabilize the quality of products through advanced electronic measuring
systems. WH Leary has a wide variety of detection solutions that use
different types of detection sensors and bar code scanners.
Glue Detection Sensors
W.
H. Leary offers over 70 detection solutions. Below are only a few of
the most selected options. For an inspection station not listed here, send us samples to help you decide which solution best fits your needs.
(ITac sensor head and remote amplifier)
Non-UV Glue Detection
Leary’s
own iTac™ sensor is the most advanced Glue Detector on the market
today. Its design, using optical triangulation, detects glue absence,
presence and volume at line speeds in excess of 2000 FPM. It is
compatible with our LS-4 or LS-9.16 controllers.
Used
in conjunction with our line of controllers, this scanner meets and
exceeds the demands of your customers. A bright light spot, small
profile and remote amplifier make the iTac™ detector extremely
versatile.
The
UV30 scanner operates in conjunction with our full line of
controllers. This luminescence sensor has a digital reference display
for simplicity in programming and set-up. A user friendly two-button
programmable keypad sets the threshold, light intensity and hysteresis
(lag in response due to carton flutter) allowing for scanning
conditions which have very little contrast.
The UV30's patented technology makes it the preferred sensor for UV detection of glue, labels, varnish and much more.
The
M06 scanner was developed specifically for monitoring glue defects
that occur when using a glue pot. Its moving shuttle design allows you
to learn the background before the glue line is learned and challenge
the sensor to ensure it is functioning properly. This is a distinct
advantage when running at high speeds.
The M06 Microwave
Sensor works in conjunction with our complete line of controllers. This
side seam detection solution is immune to color variation in the
board. With the M06, you will accurately detect skip glue, low glue
volume and dry glue. You can use any pot glue with this sensor.
Leary’s
infrared hot melt detection scanner will work in conjunction with our
controllers. After the glue has been applied, this sensor detects
absence, presence and placement of the glue (+/- 1mm at 300m/min) by
seeing its heat signature. The controller then receives a signal noting
the placement of the glue and can either pass the product or reject it.
The LS-4 and LS-9 controller can be configured to activate
your existing hot melt valves. This will allow all settings to be set
through one controller, saving set up and maintenance time.
Braille Inspection
The new LearyVIEW™ Braille Inspection System
utilizes the latest high speed camera technology available, along with some of
the most powerful processing hardware to achieve simple set up of inline
Braille detection at full production speeds.
Leary’s new
Braille inspection system combines the most powerful, most innovative
technologies with simple operation and fail-safe quality assurance - a great
combination to deliver cutting edge technology, value and performance.
The LearyVIEW™ system
delivers outstanding quality assurance, monitoring every single carton up to
150,000 cartons per hour, checking each and every Braille dot to ensure
presence, accurate positioning and register on the carton. Upon start-up, the system performs a full
decode of the Braille impression and the results are displayed on the Leary
touch panel where the operator confirms the applied Braille does in fact match
the carton specification. Further, the
LearyVIEW™ system ensures the Braille remains constant in every way, no missing
dots, no extra dots, and all the dots in exactly the correct position relative
to one another and to the carton panel. A very secure method to achieve the quality
assurance end users expect.
This system was
designed with ease of use in mind for operators.Any system that is difficult or awkward does
not lend itself to being reliable or causes long set up times. That focus has led our development team to design
a system that has very few adjustments keeping the user in mind.
Mixed Copy Detection
Barcode Detection
By
adding a code reader to your inspection system, you will be able to
scan for mixes at 2,000 scans per second. This can be accomplished with
a single line code reader or a raster scanner with 5 lines scanning
each code. By providing multiple looks at each printed code, you
increase the ability to scan at high speeds.
The code
reader works in conjunction with our range of controllers to provide
accurate reading of all standard ANSI bar codes. The bar code reader
accurately verifies Good Read, No Read, Match, and No Match conditions.
Each bar code scan is visually verified by an infrared color display
and provides real time status for each specific read. This is very
useful as a set-up tool for verifying optimal scanner alignment. All
codes, whether scanned in the single or raster mode, are read several
times guaranteeing reliability and accurate detection.
Leary’s
Pharmacode reader will protect against mixing copy, check the absence
and presence of color, measure print-to-cut registration and check the
cut length or cross length of each carton. The expanded Pharmacode
reader will scan at 2000 FPM with cross and cut length accuracy at +/-
.1mm (.004").
The color bar sequence and print-to-cut values may
be learned by pushing a button or they may be manually entered. When
integrated with our LS-4 or LS-9.16 controllers, you can see a
real-time display of scanned codes.
Occasionally
you will have a carton that is sitting on top of another to form a
true doubled carton that may jam your machine. Our double carton
detector is simple and easy to use. By learning the width or caliper of
a single carton, any increase in size is detected and the machine is
programmed to reject the carton or to shut down the gluer.
Other Detection Options
Jam Detection
The
Leary LS-4 and LS-9.16 controllers are capable of operating 8 and 12
station triggers respectively and one rejection trigger. Each of the
12 station triggers can independently be chosen by the operator to act
as a jam station by selecting “overlap” as the “trigger option” for that
station. If an overlap is detected at one of these stations, the
system sends a shutdown signal. The reject trigger is always a jam
station.
Skew Detection
This
three sensor configuration ensures that cartons are delivered through
the machine from the feed section of the gluer in a parallel position
to the flow of the cartons. This detection station is especially useful
for scanning on older folder gluers that have a tendency to feed
cartons improperly.
Glue Pot Level Control
The
model 1000 controller accurately maintains the adhesive level of any
glue pot. The system monitors whether the glue pot is low or high. It
also monitors if you have a filling or non-filling condition. Simply
mount the photo eyes above the glue pot, and the controller does the
rest. The controller also features an LED indication of the glue pot's
condition. Low and high level states are audibly and visually indicated
through the alarm outputs of the controller.
Maintenance
of the sensing element is minimal since the photo eyes never make
contact with the glue. The controller was designed to automatically
maintain constant glue pot levels, while your gluer continues to run
without filling interruptions.
